Manuel and Marisela Reyes live in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. Manuel studied art with a focus on pottery in University in Mexico City. Both Manuel and Marisela hand build their pots, masks and sculptures. They dig their own clay from the area around their home and studio. They have learned how to use natural pigments from the mountains around them to color their pottery. Both Manuel and Marisela incorporate strong elements from their cultural heritage. Manuel, being of Mixtec origin, takes inspiration from ancient pottery shards found in the mountains where they live. Manuel is also a skilled painter, focusing on traditional folklore in an array of vibrant colors. St Elise visited Manuel and Marisela’s home and studio, and fell in love with their work. They are honored to have exclusive pieces from Manuel’s body of spectacular artistry.
